We’ve been working hard learning new music since June, and now it’s time for Na Leo Lani and our Amazing Summer Program singers to show what we can do. We hope you can join us!
Yesterday’s rehearsal was a cocktail of pineapple and coconut-themed hijinks as we celebrated National Piña Colada Day. (Apparently there really is a day for everything.)
It so happens our fruity festive fun (light on the rum) came just a couple of days after the annual Lānaʻi Pineapple Festival, which began in 1993. The state of Hawaiʻi has lots of pineapple-related celebrations, but few events are as sweet as our weekly rehearsals. If you like singing in juicy four-part harmony, then come check us out! We rehearse weekly on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 PM. You can find location info and others details about Na Leo Lani HERE. Or come to our upcoming ASP (Amazing Summer Program) concert on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2 p.m. to hear what we learned in just a few short weeks over the summer! We hope to see you there!
Everything came up roses at last week’s rehearsal as we celebrated National Red Rose Day on June 12. For chorus members who love our weekly themes, it was a perfect opportunity to dress in our favorite chintz prints. As it turns out, it was also National Rosé Day on June 8! Who knew??
Whether you’re a person who always stops and smells the roses, or a woman who loves sharing a glass of wine with friends, every occasion is more festive with song, and don’t we know it! Here’s to raising a glass and gifting a rose — and doing so in four part harmony!
June marks Pride Month and we are feeling the love. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🥰
It’s also the first week of our Amazing Summer Program. Ifyou like to sing and want to experience the joy of harmony with a great group of women, come check us out this week or any other Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:30. See herefor details about our summer program.
Our May birthday gals are longtime Na Leo Lani members whose cheerful outlook and gorgeous smiles never quit. Happy birthday, JoAnne and Charley! You are role models for senior singers everywhere!
After all the intensity and excitement of our Region 12 competition last month, what fun it was to decompress and enjoy each other’s company over a great meal. In addition to watching the webcast of the Region 12 performances, our spring celebration marked the installation of our 2024-25 Board of Directors and honored our Music Team and Director. Thank you so much, each and every one of you, for all you do in keeping Na Leo Lani running!
And thanks to Rosie for the fabulously fun and lighthearted headwear. Busy mice sound twice as nice when we squeak in harmony!

Freshly back from our Sweet Adelines regional convention in Nevada, the women of Na Leo Lani celebrated our return to rehearsal on the first day of May — Lei Day in Hawai’i.
Joining us as a special guest was the multitalented musical director, educator, and accompanist Phil Hidalgo, who helped us learn the group song for the Ke Kani O Ke Kaiāulu Community Chorus Festival.
Thank you, Phil!Flowers and lei to mark the holiday.
We also belatedly celebrated our April birthday gals. Happy birthday, Coralyn!
What a tremendous experience it was to return to the Region 12 Convention in Sparks, Nevada, after seven long years! Adjusting to the high elevation and chilly temperatures wasn’t easy, but we were bowled over by the beauty of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains, the cameraderie and supportiveness of our sister choruses, and the sheer joy of singing with so many Sweet Adelines in one place.
As you can tell from the photos (below), we gave it our all and had a blast singing with and watching the other contestants, as well.
Congratulations to all of this year’s contest performers, including the winning quartet, Equilibrium, from Emerald Valley Chorus in Springfield, Oregon!
Log on to the SAI Region 12 website HERE to watch all of the performances via video on demand from now through May 12.

Partying Like a Rockstar!
From shopping and sightseeing to performance and after-party, we had an intense fun-filled three days.

This week’s rehearsal theme was “World Aquatic Animal Day” and, true to form, we ladies sang with the allure of Sirens and the harmonic trills of Ariel the mermaid. Mostly, though, we celebrated fish, whales, and other species of the sea as we continued working on our contest set for Reno and our upcoming Friends and Family concert this weekend. ‘Hope to see you all there!
This week’s rehearsal featured meowsical fun as we celebrated “Respect Your Cat Day” on March 28 — one of many cat-themed annual holidays of which most of us were heretofore unaware. (Did you know there’s also a national “Drink Wine With Your Cat Week” every February?)
“Respect Your Cat Day” is apparently based on an edict by King Richard II of England on March 28, 1384, in which he forbade his subjects from eating cats. No need to convince us to refrain from eating our feline friends! We dressed up as cats instead.
The evening was made extra special by a visit from a former NLL member who now sings with our sister Region 12 chorus High Desert Harmony. It was great singing with you again, Olivia!
