Sweet Adeline Sisterhood

What a tremendous experience it was to return to the Region 12 Convention in Sparks, Nevada, after seven long years! Adjusting to the high elevation and chilly temperatures wasn’t easy, but we were bowled over by the beauty of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains, the cameraderie and supportiveness of our sister choruses, and the sheer joy of singing with so many Sweet Adelines in one place.

As you can tell from the photos (below), we gave it our all and had a blast singing with and watching the other contestants, as well.

Congratulations to all of this year’s contest performers, including the winning quartet, Equilibrium, from Emerald Valley Chorus in Springfield, Oregon!

Log on to the SAI Region 12 website HERE to watch all of the performances via video on demand from now through May 12.

It’s coming soon! This weekend, April 19-20, Na Leo Lani will be joining the rest of the Pacific Shores region choruses in Reno, Nevada, for the 2024 Sweet Adelines International Region 12 competition. Be a part of the excitement by signing on for the livestream of our performance, or watch the recording afterward when it suits your schedule. To see the convention program, go to the Region 12 website, here.

The webcast is an important fundraiser for Region 12, and it’s a whole lotta fun, as well. Support the singer in your life and watch us shine online!

In purrfect harmony

This week’s rehearsal featured meowsical fun as we celebrated “Respect Your Cat Day” on March 28 — one of many cat-themed annual holidays of which most of us were heretofore unaware. (Did you know there’s also a national “Drink Wine With Your Cat Week” every February?)

“Respect Your Cat Day” is apparently based on an edict by King Richard II of England on March 28, 1384, in which he forbade his subjects from eating cats. No need to convince us to refrain from eating our feline friends! We dressed up as cats instead.

The evening was made extra special by a visit from a former NLL member who now sings with our sister Region 12 chorus High Desert Harmony. It was great singing with you again, Olivia!
