Moved to THIS WEEK Wednesday February 5, 6:30 p.m.

New Year, New Faces!

We were thrilled to be joined at last week’s rehearsal by Sounds of Aloha bass Iska R., accompanied by lovely vocalist Kaori.

Na Leo Lani always welcomes visitors, potential members, and singers passing through town to come check us out at our weekly rehearsals. See our Calendar of Events and Join Us! pages for info on our rehearsal schedule and how to find us. We have a guest night coming up on January 29 — that’s a great opportunity to see what we’re about — but guests are also welcome any time. Whether you have never sung before outside of your car, are a singer curious about a cappella barbershop harmony, a returning member, or a Sweet Adeline simply passing through town, we look forward to singing with you!

Holiday joy

Na Leo Lani enjoyed a busy 2024 holiday season, with performances all around the island, from the windward to the leeward side and places in between. We had a blast entertaining audiences at the Hawai’i Kai Public Library and Pohai Nani, hamming it up with Sounds of Aloha and Honolulu Blend Show Chorus at the Palikū Theatre, and of course, performing at our own Christmas concert at Harris United Methodist Church.

Mahalo nui loa to our Sing with Us for the Holidays “SWUFTH” program participants — we loved singing with you and hope you stick around or come back for our next short-term session! — and many thanks to Harris United Methodist Church for allowing us to sing in your beautiful sanctuary. Thanks as well to Sounds of Aloha — your shows are always a hoot! — and most of all to our members whose heartfelt participation made our holiday season such a joy.

Hau’oli Makahiki Hou, and may 2025 bring peace to the world, one chord at a time.

Making merry & bright

We all know the holiday season can be hard work, but there’s no reason it can’t be fun at the same time! As these snapshots and video clip from our recent rehearsal show, the women of Na Leo Lani are serious about music, but we always make time for laughter as well.

Birthdays, best days

Birthdays are always a blast with Na Leo Lani. We celebrate monthly with a sash, harmonious wishes, and an opportunity to ham it up in birthday glory.

New voices, new friends

What a whirlwind few weeks it’s been — more than a month has passed already of our Sing With Us for the Holidays (SWUFTH 😉) program! It’s been a joy getting to know our SWUFTH participants and blending with them in marvelous holiday harmony.

Enjoy some snapshots of Weeks 1-4 below, plus a snippet of an impromptu ensemble warming up the chorus with an old favorite.

August energy

This past week we celebrated our August birthday gals, worked hard on the songs for our next performance, and even made time for a little ukulele strumming. It was great seeing folks back from their summer holidays, as well as a guest, Sam, whose theatre and voice background showed as she leapt into our lead section with aplomb. Welcome, Sam, and welcome back members who have been away!

The men are putting on a show!

The annual concert of our brother barbershop chorus, Sounds of Aloha, is just two weeks away, and if you love hearing those down-low male voices as well as the mellifluous tones of tenors with testosterone, then hurry to the Sounds of Aloha website and get tickets!

Intriguingly titled “THE Final Encore of the Gray Guardians!”, the performance will feature caped crusaders, superheroes, and other favorite male fantasies — all with a wink and a smile. They will be joined by gold medal winning quartet, Main Street!

When? Saturday, August 24, 2024, 7:04 p.m. – 9:04 p.m.

Where? Moanalua High School Performing Arts Center

A musical mahalo

What a great time we had with our summer concert this afternoon! Our performance marked the culmination of our Amazing Summer Program 2024. In addition to our Hawai’i-themed repertoire, we also premiered our two ASP songs celebrating family, friends, and the indomitable feelings of joy that singing brings.

Mahalo nui loa to University Avenue Baptist Church for allowing us to perform in your beautiful sanctuary, and thanks as always to Mo’ili’ili Hongwanji for our weekly Wednesday evening rehearsal space. And thanks most of all to Yoko, Lark, and Stephanie for joining us this summer. We hope to see you again soon! 🥰🎶

Enjoy the pics and a snippet of each of our ASP songs below.
